It happens, we make all tournaments visible on the website as soon as we have the details and while NMCO will avoid scheduling tournaments on dates that other organizers in NM have scheduled their events on that we've been informed of, we will not stop anyone from scheduling their events on days we have already published events on. Events that are physically far apart and different formats like this can benefit chess players who live closer to one or the other, who have travel hardships, enjoy different formats, or wish to commit more or less of their weekend to playing chess. -Willow LeTard NMCO President

Diamondback Chess held their first rated tournament of the year on May 31st, directed by Willow LeTard and John LeTard, and hosted at the I-25 Fuddruckers! We had held chess arenas online every Monday from March 23rd in 2020 until Monday, May 31st 2021, when we got to return to the board! We had 10 people come out for 6 rounds of blitz, with players from Albuquerque, Socorro, and Las Cruces. Seeing each other in person, for the first time in over a year. We had several returning players from our Diamondback Chess alumni, players new to the club, and even some unrated players just joining USCF over the board tournaments for the first time! It was wonderful having everyone back, and we'd like to thank everyone for coming out to play as well as Fuddruckers having us back! A special congratulations for JJ Scott for placing in first with 6/6 wins!
