About the Event

Sections: Open, Reserved (U1800), Novice (U1400), 5/SS.

Prizes: Open (B/30) 1st $500, 2nd $200, and 1st U1900 $100 (Open to all. Top finishing NM Resident will be crowned 2020 State Champion, if there is a tie they will be named co-champions; Prize money will be awarded based on finishing placement regardless of residency!)

Reserve (B/30) 1st $450, 2nd $175, and 1st U1500 $100

Novice (B/30) 1st $400, 2nd $150, and 1st U1000 $100

*plaques will be awarded to 1st place finishers in open section 

*Unrated players are eligible for half of the sections prizes, except in the open, where unrated players are eligible for the entire prize fund.

Entry Fees: Open, Reserved and Novice $60

Discount:  $20 off entry for the Open, Reserve, and Novice sections, if you sign up by 10/15/21 

$10 off entry for the Open, Reserve, and Novice sections, if you sign up by 10/29/21 

Registration: USCF Membership required for all sections. Online registration open until 12:00 pm on 11/5/21.

Going to the hold the 2020 Annual Meeting at 1:45 prior to the start of the 5th round (A motion will be made to table the annual meeting for a month, till the 2021 NM Open.

*Up to 2-half point byes available if requested prior to the start of the first round.

Time Control:  Open, Reserve & Novice - G/90 d5

COVID Policy: Masks must be worn in all public spaces fully covering you nose and mouth.  Players are encouraged to clean/sanitize your hands frequently, and to disinfect your chess sets and clocks between rounds.  If you feel ill at any point of the tournament, we ask you withdraw immediately (we will issue credit towards a future event on a pro rata basis), and please do not come into contact with any other participants.  We reserve the right to remove you from the tournament if you are visibly ill and you have not voluntarily withdrawn yourself, your entry fee will be forfeited.  If you fail to comply with any of the safety or health directives you may be withdrawn from the event and your entry fee forfeited.
