For the first time (probably) ever, NMCO is hosting a Community Lecture. Where NM Andrew Flores and Expert Douglas Thigpen are offering to go over your games. This event will be held from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Cherry Hills library (6901 Barstow St NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111) on Monday 12/17/2018.
This event is free and open to all.
If you’re coming from work at not able to make it by 5:00, your welcome to still come and join us. We just ask you please enter as quietly as you can.
If you would like your game to be reviewed please make sure your notation is accurate, complete and legible. We don’t know how many people will want their games to be reviewed, could be 0 or 100. So if you want to increase your chance of having your game analyzed, please email them to email@example.com . If you want your game analyzed but you don’t want your name to be used during the lecture please say so in the email, but be sure to include the rating of the two players. If you just want to show up with a game in hand, that’s good too. It just means it’s less likely to be reviewed. We encourage players of all levels to submit their games.
The lecturers are two of New Mexico’s finest players and chess teachers. They will trade off analyzing the games you submit.
If we have time, Doug and Andrew will show two of their most embarrassing losses, to show chess makes fools of us all.
If you don’t want your games to be analyzed, you just want to come and learn, we welcome you as well.
As a note, we will be videotaping this event, but only a demonstration board and the two lecturers will be seen in the frame. If you say something, your voice will probably captured, but that will be the extent of it.
As your president, I really want to focus on promoting chess to our current members and hopefully soon to be new members. The better our events are attended they more we will have.
We hope you will all join us in building our community!
